How To Find Files In Windows 7

Okay, so we have all been in a situation where we need to find a specific file on the computer. Maybe you downloaded a picture that you you plan to use as a wallpaper to customize your settings or maybe you had to write a 10 page paper for class the next day and you know you saved it… ??? …You just don’t know where :) .

With windows 7 they made it easier than ever to search for the files you are looking for. In fact it’s faster and more accessible than any other previous version of Windows. It is safe to say one of the easiest and fastest features of Windows 7 is finding your files such as but not limited to: documents, pictures, music, and e-mail on your computer. Just type the file name into the Start menu search box, and you will see a list of relevant documents right away. (see below)

Windows 7 is also designed to search external hard drives, networked PCs, and libraries. You can instantly see your files separated by useful categories, date or of course the file name itself. Im sure you die-hard Microsoft fans out there remember way back when there was only one way to use the search feature within windows, well, no longer! Good news is, Windows 7 actually allows you to find your files in quite a few ways. There are different methods for different situations. I’ll go through a couple of main ones with you here so you learn the fastest and of course easiest ways to search.
