How To BackUp Your Files In Windows7

Something we all dread including me is that unsuspecting day that you boot up your computer for the day and you get the nasty BSD (Blue Screen of Death). The minute you see that screen you feel that pit in your stomach and you start thinking about all the possible things you might have lost. Family pictures, Your 10,000 song collection on iTunes, Your gazillion page term paper that you spent countless hours on etc… Well if that ever happens Windows 7 has created its own easy to use Backup program to help you out . It helps you manage your files according to what you want and what you need.

Windows 7 Backup is there for one simple reason to protect your priceless data. To help ensure that you don’t lose your files; you should back them up regularly. You can decide between automatic backup and manually backup your files at any time.

Let’s get a little more personal …

1. Click the Start button

2. Click the Control Panel

3. Click System and Security

4. Click Backup and Restore

Reminder:

If you’ve never used Windows Backup before, click Set up backup, and then follow the simple step by step process with the Windows7 wizard. ( I would walk you through it but it`s so easy even a caveman could do it. ha-ha) If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, you HAVE to type the password or provide confirmation. If you’ve created a backup before, you can wait for your regularly scheduled backup to occur, or you can manually create a new backup by clicking Backup now.

As soon as you create your first backup, Windows Backup will add new or changed information to your previously stored information. If you’re saving your backups on a hard drive or network location, Windows Backup will create a new, full backup for you automatically when needed. You can save your backup on CDs or DVDs and if you can’t find an existing backup disc, because you saved it to a hard drive, you can create your new full backup. I use an external drive to save all my system backup and restore point just because I am a little more paranoid than most. I guess it’s like mama always said. “You’re better safe than sorry.”

Summary: This is an easy way to keep your files safe and secure. There are many different programs out there Windows 7 just made it easy for you to backup and restore your hard drive(s) and system folders with it’s built in function. Because this is so simple it’s often neglected. Take a minute or two and setup and automatic backup if you are forgetful like me and back that thing up ladies and gents.
